Over the years, we have built an extensive consultancy network and we only cooperate with the best and most talented consultants in the market.
Project and program management is about ensuring that projects and programs reach their goals within the agreed time, finances and quality. It may sound very easy, but it is a difficult discipline. Therefore, it is important to get the right consultants placed in these roles.
The profiles that hold the role of project or program manager can have very different skillset depending on the chosen development model. The approach can either be a traditional, plan-based approach based on a waterfall model or an agile approach based on a spiral model.
The traditional project manager will often work within infrastructure, procurement and implementation of standard systems, transition projects etc., and is typically certified in PMI (PMP), AXELOS (Prince2) and IPMA combined with ITIL, risk, architecture, testing, security etc.
The agile project manager is referred to as Scrum Master, Product Owner, Team Member or the like related to Scrum. Companies that work agile typically work with the development of e.g. software, but the agile toolbox is gradually being used other places. A large part of our customers works with Scrum, but knowledge of Kanban, XP, DSDM, Crystal and the like is often an advantage.
There are also projects and project managers working in the intersection between the traditional and the agile. This is the the so-called hybrid models, known from PMP 6.ed and Prince2 Agile, where the above approaches are combined. A project is typically isolated, or in agile development, consisting of one or a few teams.
When dealing with major transformations or changes, more and more companies are creating programs. Programs consists of a more complex structure. The traditional programs typically consist of several projects with the same overall strategy. The program manager often needs to have a basic knowledge of project management; hence program managers lead a few project managers, but otherwise program managers typically have more knowledge about stakeholder management upwards, finances and the like. A program manager is often certified in PMI (PgMP), AXELOS (MSP) and IPMA combined with ITIL, architecture, testing, security etc.
If you are working agile within a major transformation, which we see especially in finance and insurance, the consultant at the team level will have skills as described above. Are you working at a higher level, these skills are often scaled, e.g. Scaled Scrum master, Release train engineering and likewise, where Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is particularly widespread in Denmark, while competencies within DAD, Xscale and the like could be relevant.
We are constantly getting new projects and experiencing a great demand for specialists with these competencies.
